Day 11: Day of Rest

Day 11 – Wed. Jan. 8: Slept in. Don’t know if it’s the cold, rainy weather or just all of the pollution, but am feeling congested and sneezy. You can really smell and even taste the pollution in the air here. Also, after the last very active 10 days, it was nice to take a break and sleep in. After checking out of the hotel around noon, took a taxi to Hangzhou East train station and boarded a high-speed train to Shanghai. The trip took about an hour. The taxi ride to the Riverview Hotel (walking distance to the Bund) took longer. Very bad traffic. Booked a one-day, English-speaking bus tour of Shanghai for tomorrow. The weather promises to be better.
