Day 9
– Mon. Jan. 6: Got up very early for a 3-hour taxi ride to the airport. The
taxi picked us up at 4:45 am, and the flight to Hangzhou took off at
8:20. After checking in to the hotel, walked through a pedestrian shopping
area on the way to West Lake. It was a cold and overcast day, not ideal for
walking around. We took a boat ride to Xiaoying Island in the middle of the
lake (also known as the Island of Small Oceans) where we strolled and saw San
Tan Yin Yue, the three small stone pagodas in the lake which mirror the moon.
Walking along the Bai Causeway to get back to the hotel, we saw the musical
water show from a distance across the lake.
